Before this, Dato’ Dr Kangwas the political secretary in the Ministry of Primary Industries from 1986 to 1990, further demonstrating his commitment to public service. He earned his doctoral degreein physics from the prestigious University of Waterloo in Canada, solidifying his academic credentials.

In addition to his illustrious career in governance and academia, Dato’ Dr Kang lectured at Universiti Sains Malaysia, where he inspired future generations. He is also a highly skilled Chinese calligrapher whose exquisite works have been showcased in solo exhibitions in Penang, Melaka, Xiamen, and Shanghai.

Following his retirement, Dato’ Dr Kang transitioned into consultancy, lending his expertise to several publicly listed companies and continuing to shape the business landscape. He was the founding president of the Penang-Xiamen Friendship Association and served as an overseas Fellow of the Shanghai Chinese Calligraphy Academy, underscoring his dedication to cultural exchange and the arts.
