MR. MAI MANG LEE

MAI MANG LEE, EDWARD was born in Taiping, Perak, where he began his early education at the King Edward VII School. He later pursued his passion for engineering, earning a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from the Institute of Technology. Additionally, he is a certified Environmental Auditor, underscoring his dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

Mai Mang Lee embarked on his professional journey with Intel Technology Sdn. Bhd. in 1982, serving as a Technical Specialist for four years. He then joined Daviscomms (M) Sdn. Bhd. as an Operations Manager, where he honed his managerial and operational expertise.

In 2006, amidst a wave of multinational factories relocating to China and Korea, Mai Mang Lee, along with three other visionary founders, took a bold step to establish a technology manufacturing company in Penang. This venture, named Inari Technology Sdn. Bhd., was founded on the unyielding determination embodied in their tagline: “Die Die Must Do, Even to Die Standing.”

Inari and its subsidiaries (“Group”) are Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) service providers for the semiconductor industry covering radio frequency (“RF”), fibres-optics transceivers, optoelectronics, memory modules, sensors and custom integrated circuit (“IC”) technologies.

With the four founders’ strategic vision, Inari Technology Sdn. Bhd. achieved remarkable milestones. On 21 September 2010, Mai Mang Lee was appointed to the Board as an Executive Director and is in charge of the Group’s facilities, equipment and government matters. The company was listed on Bursa Malaysia as Inari Amertron Bhd. in July 2011. From its humble beginnings in a 20,000 sq. ft. factory, the business has expanded exponentially to encompass 12 factories spanning over 2,000,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space. Today, Inari Amertron employs more than 6,500 staff, operating 8 factories in Penang, 2 in Clark, Philippines, and 1 each in Kunsan and Yiwu, China. With a market capitalization of RM12 billion, it stands as one of the largest technology companies listed on Bursa Malaysia.

Beyond his professional achievements, Mai Mang Lee has made significant contributions to community service and philanthropy. He has been an active member of the Apex Club in Penang, serving as its President in 1988/1989. He was later elected as the National President of Apex Clubs of Malaysia in 1998/1999 and went on to hold the esteemed position of APEX Global Chairman for the Asia Pacific region in 2017/2018.

In 2012, Mai Mang Lee founded the APEX Penang Education Fund, a testament to his unwavering commitment to education and social welfare. Since 2018, he has served as the Chairman of the Apex Malaysia Education Fund. He also spearheaded the creation of the APEX850, dedicated to raising funds and supporting education, nursing academies, and dementia hospitals.
