DATO’ SERI
GOH ENG HOE
His academic journey commenced at Sultan Abdul Hamid College in Alor Setar, Kedah, where he nurtured the foundational skills that would later propel him into business leadership. In the early 1970s, Dato’ Seri Goh began a career in office equipment and industrial supplies, primarily serving Penang’s burgeoning semiconductor industries and surrounding regions. This initial exposure illuminated the pressing need for recycling practices, inspiring him to create IRM Industries Sdn Bhd in 1984.
IRM Industries commenced operations as a trading company in 1980, focusing on non-ferrous metals and plastic materials while recycling plastic waste. The strategic move brought expertise closer to the heart of Malaysia’s semiconductor and electronics industries, leading to the official incorporation of IRM Industries Sdn Bhd on 7th April 1984. Faced with the complexities of transporting scrap materials in compliance with the Basel Convention and other international protocols, Dato’ Seri Goh made a visionary decision to establish a central processing facility.
As the company evolved, it expanded its operations to include the recycling and recreation of non-ferrous and precious metals sourced from electronic production rejects, computer components, and telecommunications equipment. As the founder of IRM Industries, he established a pioneering company dedicated to sustainability and resource recovery, carving a remarkable path over the past four decades.
Through this commitment to sustainability, IRM continues to uphold its trading activities in non-ferrous metals and the recycling of plastic waste, solidifying its reputation as a leader in responsible resource management.
As the driving force behind the company, Dato’ Seri Goh gained recognition and championed the legalisation of e-waste management, advocating for a cleaner, greener future for the next generation.
IRM Industries champions the recycling industry and stands as a testament to the possibilities of sustainable development, inspiring future generations to embrace a greener tomorrow. Dato’ Seri Goh’s extensive precious and non-ferrous metals trading experience led him to invest. In the early 2000s, he diversified his ventures, founding EHG Capital Sdn Bhd, a family investment vehicle that supports technological start-ups and invests globally across all asset classes.
Despite his significant accomplishments, he remains deeply committed to social responsibility. His humble beginnings inculcated a profound sense of duty towards the less fortunate. This commitment materialised in 2004 when he founded LCBB. His active involvement in Lions Club International earned him accolades as a Humanitarian Partner and an appointment as Second Century Ambassador, recognising his invaluable contributions to humanitarian efforts.
Additionally, he holds the rank of colonel and advisor in the Malaysia Civil Defence Force Associate Officers Association. He also serves as chairman of a Chinese school board, guiding various guilds and associations. His influence extends into the business community, where he is the Penang Premium Business Enterprise Association vice-president.
